CSSTL 2010 Schedule
By Richard Richardson, Colorado springs, CO, March 10, 2010

April 17th Season Opener at Loveland beginning at 9 a.m.

CSSTL joins SSUSA
By Richard Richardson, Colorado Springs, CO, February 16, 2010

Commissioner Charlie Davis announced that the CSSTL is now associated with SSUSA.  Fields once available to the CSSTL are not this year.  This forced the CSSTL to look at other locations.  These locations require the league to have liability insurance, which was purchased through SSUSA.  SSUSA not only provided liability insurance, but, also a secondary health insurance.  The teams will need to fill out and send in a required form to Charlie Davis as soon as you can.

CSSTL Annual Meeting January 23, 2010
By Richie McDowell, Denver, CO,  January 23, 2010

Commissioner: nominated and elected Charlie Davis.

Board of Directors: nominated and elected Bert Hertzke, Vince Gaydos, Randy Pearson, Richie McDowell, Bob Spada and Jeff Schumaker.

Officers: nominated and elected Bert Hertzke as Treasurer and Richie McDowell as Secretary.

Website: approved and retained Richard Richardson as Webmaster; Charlie Davis will pursue advertising revenue from sponsors.

Teams: appears we will still have 14 teams...Scrap Iron 50's have dropped out, but Pitchers will spilt up to also include Diamonds, while Tweet will become Renegades.  We will still maintain  3 Divisions(upper does not play lower; crossover run rule on interdivision); seedings are still to be determined by Board and will be redone at mid-season.

Softball fields and dates: Kennedy is not an option this year; much discussion and Board was given  approval to do the best they can given circumstances(Commissioner to work on new policy so that we don't run into same problems next year).  Update to Annual Meeting is that Board is trying to establish the following, which includes 3 rain out dates as we've always had...3 days @ Schaefer(Kipling & Hampden); 2 days @ Loveland; 1 day @ Evans; 4 days @ Westminster; 3 days @ Colorado Springs.  Proposed Saturday's we'll play on are as follows: April 17; April 24;  May 1; May 8; May 22; June 12; June 19; June 26; July 24; July 31; August 7; August 21;   August 28.

Budget: still to be determined since we don't know what fields we'll be playing on and their respective costs; tentatively plan on $750 as team entry fee(same as last year); unless league brings in more  revenue, we will have no prizes; bank balance @ $2,665.83(need to prepay for 3 rain outs).

Rules: only change is time frame on games...last regular inning is @ 60 minutes, with following inning being "open", so coaches need to have watches.  CSSTL uses SSUSA rules, unless otherwise noted.  They are always posted on the website.  We had much discussion on other  rules, including coaches responsibility as umpires, batter's count, teams short of players, home runs, pitching, home team, strike mat, maximum 5 Major/Major Plus players under age 60 and senior ladies...but they all remain the same.

Bat policy
Senior Softball-USA allows use of bats meeting the 1.20 bpf, including the Miken II, Easton Synergy and all other bats meeting the 1.20 bpf. This includes Ultra IIs.
